Arlington, TX is a perfectly fine place to grow up. It is the "Bright Side" where the good guys raise their kids and have their fun in the daylight. There is no worse place to fall in love with someone who hasn't had a chance to escape and see the world a little. You can hope they come back, but the odds are low. And living here without them is unbearable.
